November marks the beginning of the long awaited Extreme Modelling Experience project. The Press launch of which was last Friday 20th October. The event was at The Curtain, Shoreditch, London, in conjunction with Gersch & Rox Presents Cabaret.
Let me share with you a little about Extreme Modelling Experience or “EME” for short. The Extreme Modelling Experience is a day that you’ll never forget. This is NOT a portrait shoot, with cheesy grins, catalogue poses & over-airbrushed images. This is a day where YOU and a small group of “models” will spend the day being just that! With Extreme make-up and hair to see yourself like you’ve never imagined, directed by professional photographers who will shoot you on sets and record the WHOLE day’s event for you, which includes lunch and all beverages. Last but not least, you will be part of a creative art piece, based on one of at least four themes available according to date. The story will be unique every time and you will help develop the tableau.
My involvement and experience of the project started back in July when I joined the crew as a stylist for their promo shoot held in Holborn, London. When I turned up my first impression was how welcoming, friendly and organised it was. The crew were clearly very experienced in their respective fields. The floor manager, Hayley had everything well under control and made sure everything went smoothly. After carefully selecting an appropriate outfit, each model was chaperoned from me as their stylist and on this occasion Yana as the designer, on to the team of makeup artists and then the team of hair stylists to create the look for the theme “Beauty Unboxed”. What I like most about this experience is the way each client is encouraged and empowered to embrace the whole experience of becoming a model. It is also a lovely way to meet other women, make new friends and be a part of creating a unique tableau and portraits.
Part of my job as stylist is to make sure each client looks and feels good. I give guidance with posing, and if they need words of encouragement, I am on hand. The lunch provided was fantastic and I am looking forward to the lunches at EME events which will be a great opportunity to relax, connect with each other and chat about the experience.
So back to the launch last Friday. The acts at Gersch & Rox were outstanding as is the stunning venue, The Curtain in Shoreditch. During the intermission of the cabaret show, Hayley, Cheryl, Louise and I, plus Kay Anthony the photographer and Founder of EME took to the streets of Shoreditch as the mob crew and handed out flyers, which was SO much fun! What I loved about this was the enthusiastic response from the public. Although some women and men initially thought they would not be comfortable enough to join an experience like this one, we explained to them, that it was for everyone, regardless of age, gender, experience, shapes and sizes.
We headed back to The Curtain after a while to enjoy the last of the show and do some networking with the cast, crew and members of the club.
For what was a long journey to London, it was made worthwhile to see the launch of this fabulous project. For any information, please visit the website www.ExtremeModellingExperience.co.uk or email: info@ExtremeModellingExperience.co.uk.
I hope to see you at one of the shoots. It’d be great to style you and share a drink and a chat!
